A Nigerian Lady Olamide Davies Talabi Turns A Commissioner, Appointed by the Mayor of Newark New Jersey

Great News to Nigerians and all Africans in the diaspora! An extra-ordinary personality by the name of Hon (Mrs.) Olamide Davies Talabi, an activist, award-winning humanitarian, author, event promoter and a Community Engagement Specialist for United People for African Congress just became a Commissioner in the City of Newark, New Jersey.

The renowned author of two best sellers books i.e “An Immigrant’s A-Z guide to living the Ultimate Dream in America” and “YES WE CAN, YES WE DID – The story of President Barack Obama” started her journalism career over a decade ago with the African Eye magazine where she dishes advice on relationships, women empowerment and immediate concern of the African community.
As a philanthropist, Olamide Davies Talabi has been a force to reckon with in terms of giving back to the community both financially and morally. Currently the Founder of the Miss Africa Tri State Charity Foundation and one of the board of directors of S.A.L.T: a non-profit organization based in Nigeria.
Due to her relentless efforts in making a difference in the African community, her encouragement and mentorship to young ladies through her organization “ Miss Africa Tri State Humanitarian Pageant” that encourages, mentoring, and exposure of these young ladies to the basic philosophy of giving back and helping their communities. “Ms. Lammy” as her mentees and colleagues in the entertainment industry fondly call her have been appreciated with outstanding awards both in and outside the USA.

On the new appointment, she was sworn in on Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Newark City Hall in New Jersey, as the new Commissioner for African Commission - City of Newark, New Jersey, United States of America; the appointment is for a period of four years and may be renewed afterwards. In her acceptance speech, she promises to work with other Commissioners to promote policies and awareness of issues concerning the cultural, social, economic, political, educational and general well-being of the Africans here in the Diaspora .*a especially those living in Newark in such a way that would also benefit the City and the United States as a whole.
